| Credit Union Joins Girl Scouts for Thinking Day! March 17, 2010 JOHNS CREEK - Volunteers from Associated Credit Union joined 120 Girl Scouts for Thinking Day 2010 to make lunches for the International Rescue Committee (IRC) at Johns Creek United Methodist Church. Service Unit Director for Oakwood Circle, Sherri Maner, coordinated the event and over 200 girls, parents, and Associated Credit Union volunteers attended. The Girl Scouts packed lunches, collected clothes, and donated more than 80 pounds of food to the IRC. "The theme of 2010 World Thinking Day: Together we can end extreme poverty and hunger enabled us to identify a global problem that exists in our own communities," said Maner. "IRC volunteers were able to bring that concept to our girls as people they serve on a daily basis turn to them for food and assistance. With the IRC volunteers and our community partner Associated Credit Union, we were able to provide what Thinking Day is truly about, working together to make a difference in the world one step at a time." Along with their contributions, the girls were able to raise money for the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund, which supports girls' international travel and provides opportunities to foster international relationships with other Girl Scouts from 144 nations. Johns Creek United Methodist Church is an avid supporter of Girl Scouts and provides a safe and cost free environment to hold events such as this one. Oakwood Circle covers Findley Oaks and Shakerag Elementary, River Trail Middle School, Northview High School and both campuses of Woodward Academy. Associated Credit Union is headquartered in Norcross. - This is an excerpt from the Johns Creek Harold - |

| We're undergoing some changes in our program, but no matter what, Girl Scouts can change the way girls see the world. It teaches them the importance of personal responsibility, the value of goal-setting, the spirit of teamwork, the thrill of accomplishment... and some new ways to have fun! We hope you'll visit us here regularly for updates and reference information. Together, our circle of friends is going to make this a great resource and a great experience for our girls! ~ The Oakwood Circle Team ~ |
